What to add to all the comments about this fabulous book? Collins creates a fascinating setting and delivers one of the greatest heroines of all time in Katniss.
i read this book as part of the 300 books everyone should read once. this is the second time i have read it. i enjoyed it more the second time. i'm looking forward to the prequel rumored to be coming out this spring.
This is the most incredible book I have read so far. Collins’ use of present tense and a first person view make it feel as though you are truly there alongside Katniss Everdeen. I highly recommend this book.
When a friend of mine told me to read this, I did. I didn't think I would read this book till grade 8 but I'm glade I read it before.
There are 13 districts, 13 is a dead district, Katniss Everdeen ans Peeta Mellark are both from district 12, when Katniss's sister is chosen to peripatetic in a cruel game, called the hunger games, Katniss volunteers to go incited. Peeta is also chosen.
The hunger games, are a way for the 12 districts to get food, they send in one boy and one girl, who have to fight to the death in an arena. They must kill the tributes from all other districts for themselves to win. Even the other tribute from their own district. For the Capitol (Which don't have to send in a tribute) It is just entertainment.
After Katniss dares the Capitol an uprising begins, and her whole world get turned upside down.
A book with action, romance, and set in a dystopian world, you won't be able to put down the book. It is a must read.
When my 2 best friends told to read it I didn't want to at ALL☝️
But eventually I got round to it... it is seriously AMAZING🤤🤤 I really really really really loved it💋💋💋
My friends said it is really good and i cant wait 2 read this book , i havent read it yet but still ❤️ it
This book was a ride from the beginning. Although I don't typically read dystopian books, this was well crafted in and out. Even though there is a lot of action and suspense, you also feel for Katniss with every decision she must make. Great book!
Amazingly written, action packed novel. Which will leave you wanting more.
The Hunger Games is the first book in a trilogy. It is a story about Katniss Everdeen, a teenage girl who lives in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by the Capitol. Every year, the Capitol requires one female and one male tribute from each of the 12 districts to participate in the Hunger Games. The twenty-four contestants enter the arena and only one leaves. Katniss’ younger sister Prim is selected to be in the games, but Katniss volunteers to take her place. Katniss has to fight in order to survive and not die in the games. I liked this book because it was adventurous and I loved the characters in the story. I would recommend this story to teens who like action books. On a scale of 1-5, I would rate this book as a 4. Analisa, grade 11, of the Yorba Linda Teen Book Bloggers
The Hunger Games is a very good, but violent book. There are 12 Districs. Each year, 2 tributes from each District are drawn to go compete in the Hunger Games. The tributes all try to kill each other. The last one standing wins. Katniss Everdeen is a kind and brave girl who lives in District 12. Her sister, Primrose, is picked to be a tribute. Katniss volunteers to go instead of her. Katniss and her fellow tribute have to work together to win the Hunger Games.
The Hunger Games is one of those books that is hard to put down. I would recommend this book to all my friends.
The Hunger Games are a cruel "sporting event" in wich 2 tributes (1 boy 1 girl ) from each district between the ages of 12 and 18 must fight to the death in a vast arena full of wildlife and unpredictable challenges.
Katniss Everdeen is 16 and desperate for 1 thing: to keep her family alive.
When her sister, Prim, gets picked for the Games against all odds, Katniss, in her desperation to save her, volunteers herself.
In the Games, she must fight and hide in order to survive, when a rule is changed for the first time in history, she must choose between love, life, and defying those who imprison her and her loved ones. "Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favour!"
Unfortunately, heartbreakingly believable. That's what I love about reading dystopia - being made to be feel uncomfortable and forced to confront how close we are in today's society to the imagined story. In some not-too-far-in-the-future America, oppressed Districts are forced to send 2 "tributes" to the Capitol to participate in the annual Hunger Games, an exercise by the powers that be to remind the Districts of their powerless, submissive situation. The Hunger Games are a fight to the death between the 12 to 18-year old tributes. The story focuses on the 2 tributes from District 12 - Katniss and Peeta. This is a gritty, brutal, violent story (don't know how they're going to make this into a movie that isn't NC-17 with all of the violence against children!), but it's also tender, moving and beautiful. And very cautiously hopeful. Something special.
This book, Hunger Games, was alright. It had a OK hook, was kind of slow on the action, and the story itself was kind of typical, if you know what I mean. There was some action, and a few tense and exciting parts, but I honestly think that you should look for a better book.
I thought that The Hunger Games was very thrilling and action-packed. It is also one of my favorite books ever. I am currently trying to finish the full series. My favorite part of this book is when Katniss shoots an arrow that pierces an apple in a roast pig's mouth because the gamemakers were not paying attention to her. I also thought this book was interesting because it was very mysterious and it is very hard to predict what happens next. Though the book is extremely violent, it also has some positive messages like honesty and loyalty. The Hunger Games is a very interesting and magnificent story, so read it soon!!!
I really enjoyed the book because well it's really exciting and you won't know what's gonna happen next. My favourite part was when Katniss cut off the wasps nest on top of Cato and his allies. To me, it was hilarious because the book said they were running all over the place.
I really, really liked this book. Not my favorite in the series, but still very marvelous.
The Hunger Games starts upon the arrival of the procuring in District 12. Katniss Everdeen, the story's 16-year-old storyteller, embarks to meet her companion Gale so they can do some chasing and assembling before the procuring that evening. As Katniss advances from her home to the Meadow and, at long last, to the forested areas, where individuals of the locale are prohibited to go, we find out about Katniss' life in the ruined piece of her region, the Seam, and her family. She ponders her sister Prim, who is 4 years more youthful, and her mom, both of whom have relied on Katniss for survival as far back as Katniss' dad kicked the bucket in a mine blast when she was 11.The procuring is a nerve-wracking time since it figures out which kid and young lady, ages 12 to 18, will fill in as the locale's tributes in the Hunger Games. Two tributes are attracted every one of the 12 locale, and those tributes are sent to a field where they battle until just a single tribute stays alive. The victor gets the chance to return home, and the victor's region is showered with blessings — in particular nourishment. The Games, put on by the Capitol, are intended to rebuff the 12 locale of Panem just as to help them to remember the Dark Days and how the thirteenth region was pulverized for its uprising against the oppressive and merciless Capitol.
Umm where do I start?!?! This series is sooo amazing!!! I read all of these books in the last week of December and watched all the movies and they were all soooooooo good I love them all!! This book is so interesting and it's really hard to put it down. There are no "boring" parts of the book and it feels that the entire book is climactic. Great read. Strongly recommend it. Whenever someone wants to read a new book and asks me for a recommendation I literally force them into this series it's really great.
