I started the trilogy half way into November and finished the start of December. Let me just say, I loved the books and am glad I read them. my friends surged me to read them and with a boost from my Humanities teacher I read it. I’m in grade 7 and think the book is appropriate for ages 11 and over. This series is definitely one of my favourites.
I think this book is amazing, Very addicting! So much so that I had to read the whole thing in one go! The only reason I rated 4 and a half stars is that I think the story got boring at times. Such as the start. Still, a amazing book.
I would say 12+, this is because it is violent and somewhat scary even for me at times. (Haha)
Thank You For Reading My Review!
this book is amazing. it felt so real, and no book has ever felt as real to me than this one except Harry Potter. i read it in 2 days, and stayed up till 1 this morning to finish it.
Beware: the ending is a cliffhanger. so you should probably have Catching Fire ready to read as soon as you finish The Hunger Games. i wasn't informed of the cliffhanger and am now waiting in suspense for Catching Fire.
Loved the book could not put it down read it in 4 days!!! It is so good
firm girl at the ruthless race ++
Much of it is how girlish powers come to us from nowhere
I wish I had read this before seeing the movie. The book does a much better job of telling the overall story and fills in the holes that the movie did not address (but desperately needed to.)
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IT IS WITH YA BOOKS AND LOVE TRIANGLES!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, I'm sick of them! Can someone please write a good YA book WITHOUT a bloody love triangle in it! Apart from the steriotypical love triangle this book is great. I prefer it to the other two, I don't know why i just do.
Also this book is WAY better than the movies, like, Mockingjay (parts 1&2) were ok but the others were crap. I'm warning you don't watch them unless you really have to...
This book was so amazing!! I loved it so much and read the whole series twice. If you haven't read it you totally should and if you have you should read it again!
I could not finish this book. It reads like a screenplay, and the relationships/motivations made no logical or organic sense to me. Don't get me wrong, the premise was interesting, but man could another author have done it better... And they have in other stories. I know it's "Teen" geared, but the interpersonal drama and romance was ridiculous in the setting.
Absolutely amazing. I couldn't stop reading this and stayed all the way up through midnight.
While the exposition was a bit much, i did quite like this. I wish Katniss had been a more full of a character- she seemed a bit flat and her love for the youngers was one of her only personality traits.
Also, team Gale.
I did love this in the way i’ve loved other survival books, and i really appreciated the way Collins wove in commentary on mental states, authority and access to knowledge, and gender roles. That being said, i still like Divergent better. but i’m glad i read this!
When I asked my 12 year old granddaughter to recommend some books for our church library, I was a bit surprised this book was on her list. All I had ever heard was too much violence. But, I dutifully read it and find it full of themes to discuss with friends and parents. If you are worried about the violence, I found it not too difficult to read those parts after all. It is well worth having you 5th grader and up read and discuss the themes with you.
I am getting the follow-up books to read, too.
This is one of the best books I've ever read! It is unquestionably the best book in the series to me, but that's just be my opinion. I love the plot and the story, it made me think. I read them all many time, I loved them more and more each time! I cried lots of times through out the books, but I tend to do that in books. Super good book!!!
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a very action packed book. It was full of a lot of different moods; sad, happy, anger, pain etc but I thought it was an overall great book. I especially liked how there was a lot of description so that you could picture the scenes in your head and 'hear' the characters talking. I think that since Katniss and Peeta ( the 2 main characters ) had a past also made the book interesting, and how sometimes they related back to their district compared to the Capitol. But overall I recommend this book to people that like action and don't mind a bit of gruesome parts every now and then but also a little bit of romance. I gave this book 4 and a half stars.
I love dystopians! This was a dark future. Definitely advise looking up trigger warnings for more sensitive readers. I loved the writing and how quotable this book was. The social commentary was also very interesting. I recommend reading it, but a heads up that I have heard (and have myself) some conflicting feelings about the other two books in the series. Also, heads up love triangle alert.
It Was AMAZING! Could not put it down and then re-read it about 12 times ( not an exaggeration ) this is definitely my favorite of the 3.
Its not as good as it was made out to be. If I hadn't been stuck in the back of a car for seven hours and Hungers game was the only book I had, I wouldn't have started reading and finished it. But that's just my opinion.
This book is AMAZING! I first read it in gr. 5 and I couldn't put it down. It's one of my favourite books. Katniss is a brave and determined, yet flawed, character who tries to stay true to herself while also trying to win the Games. The futuristic world, Panem, isn't too fantastical; it's very realistic and understandable. I recommend to first read the book and then watch the movie.
I wasn't expecting much from this book, although I have seen the movies. I was BLOWN AWAY. I could not put it down. It's a page-turner. Just give it a chance--I was skeptical since the intended audience is young teens, as indicated by the call letter on the binder, "Y." But boy was I glad that I checked it out and now I am reading ALL three novels, plus I want to buy the movies. Enjoy the stories folks! Excellent writing.
This was even better than it sounded! Collins has created a whole new world using only words. I was intrigued the whole time and stayed up most of the night to finish this. The idea of North America's destruction and The Hunger Games and tributes being used for entertainment is horrific, but so incredible at the same time. Katniss Everdeen is badass, rebellious, unique and admirable. One of my favorite heroines of all time. - Lyla, age 12
This book is so good I just read it and plan on reading again soon. I love it so much I bought my own copy for myself. 😍
