Great book, but so sad! But I think it truly is a thrilling and intriguing storyline.

My favorite part was when Katniss and Peeta made it to the finals together. That was a good part.

The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is the first novel in the extremely popular Hunger Games Trilogy. This novel is an adventure with imaginative fantasy following the struggles of a teenage girl as she struggles to survive in this dystopian future in a district of extreme poverty.

The novel takes place in the future where the continent of North America has been destroyed by war. Now in its place lie the shining Capitol and twelve districts outlying districts. These districts and the capital form Panem, a dystopian nation. As a consequence of the war along with one district being destroyed and the remaining twelve put into poverty, each year one male and one female tribute between the ages of 13-18 years old are reaped from each district. The tributes are selected by a large lottery at a large ceremony where everyone is forced to attend. The winners of the lottery are then forced to participate in The Hunger Games, a battle royal fight to the death where the single victor is showered in wealth. The televised games are broadcast throughout Panem and are considered to be entertainment among the capital citizens. This year, when sixteen year old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta Melark, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. With odds stacked against poor Katniss what misadventures are to await her?
The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is the first novel in the Hunger Games Trilogy. In my opinion I really enjoyed the imaginative adventure and would recommend this book to others who enjoy suspenseful action novels. I really liked the dynamic atmosphere of the story and the interesting plot. I think Suzanne Collins did a great job writing this book and is appropriate for anyone who is 12 years old or older. I say this because this book that illustrates brutal deaths, deals with politics, and other themes that a younger child might not understand. If you’re going to read this book at the library, I recommend checking out or reserving the other two books in this trilogy as once you read the first you will want to dive into the rest.

One word: AMAZING!!

This was good book. I just couldn't get one board with the romance that was going in the book. I did like how far Katniss would go to save her family or to make a point to everyone watching the games.

This book was five stars deserving - it was captivating, suspenseful and all the while had an edge of romance about it. I loved the Hunger Games through and through and I cannot get enough of it. It was a nicely thought out plot, with multiple twists and turns that lead to the climax. The end of the book was shortened to a sort of a cliffhanger, which made me (and probably others) dying to read the next book! Overall, Suzanne Collins did a great job in capturing the population's attention, and she definitely DESERVES that attention.

I found the Hunger Games very interesting and found the plot to be brilliant! I thought the part when Rue died was special because it showed the capital that we are more than a toy.

Adult author Maria Snider writes similarly to the Hunger Games. "Magic Study" is the first book in the series.

The Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl to compete in an event called the Hunger Games. Everybody must watch as the young people fight until one remains. A district 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts, in an arena where she fights for survival. - Katharina

I am absolutely amazed by the suspense, drama, action and adventure that was set in this book. It really helps to bring out the setting of the book, the characters' personalities, etc. Props and compliments to Ms. Suzanne Collins for taking her time to create a beautiful piece!
