Suspenseful book, but will leave you frustrated with the rule of law.

I enjoyed this book with suspension of belief at what was happening. In simple terms, it's a good story and I still think it was worth reading. However. ** spoiler alert **** spoiler alert **** spoiler alert ** I'm not a legal expert…

Two mysteries, two timelines, and multiple twists and turns are some of the ingredients in author Graham Moore’s taut legal thriller and courtroom drama, THE HOLDOUT. Moore has created a diverse set of characters with varying degrees of…

Definitely, an unusual book. Most different start and generally interesting book that gets boring when each juror explains the trial from their view point. Unusual ending leaving the reader with an empty feeling. Overall, a good book…

After a slow start where I almost DNF'd it I kept going. After working as a legal secretary and law office manager for most of my professional career as well as going to law school myself I felt an emotional obligation to keep going --…

A preposterous first paragraph where the female defendant (avert eyes for spoiler and gore) allegedly stabbed her abusive husband and "cut his head off with garden shears". Nonsense. That never happens. It's only there to shock and…

Not a bad read until I got to the part where the trial was rehashed by each different juror. I started skipping paragraphs as I was bored.

A somewhat wierd story of a jury in a murder trial, how they reach a verdict and how it affects their lives. Ending predictable, cardboard characters. Heaven help us if the legal system is like this.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down. The twists and turns were excellent and I couldn't wait to read what happened next. There is also some relevant race issues that are addressed i the book which are really timely.

well constructed, like one of those packaging cartons that somehow unfolds into a sheet of cardboard with various cuts and folds. I can no longer use the expression 'shades of gray' so let's just say the degrees of guilt and culpability…

A twisty legal thriller told from the point of the view of the jury. There are enough unexpected turns to please even the most hardened reader of the twisty mystery genre.

The Holdout started out interesting. I liked the premise, the plotting was steady, and was a quick read. The ending was a little meh, but this was an easy read; it felt like a Lifetime movie but a better.

When 10 years ago you were on a jury and convinced the panel to acquit a teacher of murdering a young, rich student. And now the case is now considered an O.J.-level miscarriage of justice.....

I don't usually venture into crime novels but the whole courtroom drama from a juror's perspective drew me in. Probably because having once served as a juror in a trial, I could relate to some of the difficulties. Part of me really liked…

This is entertaining courtroom drama. In a sensational murder trial the jurors are sequestered in a LA hotel during the 4 month trial. Everyone on the jury except for Maya, knows the accused is guilty of the murder of a 15 year old girl.…
