Such a simple book yet so deeply insightful. Rabbit sees the positive in everything, whereas mouse see only the negative. After reading it only one time to my kids, the next day my 4 year old sat down beside my 2 year old and READ it to her...of course not actually reading but describing everything and how Rabbit kept seeing it as "good news" and mouse seeing it as "bad news". One of my kids very favorites. Now we laugh and say "good news!" whenever something happens with a silver lining. Kudos to the author and the illustrator!
A great book - rabbit is so optimistic, I love it!
Rabbit is unflaggingly optimistic, while his friend Mouse tends to see things a bit more negatively. Using only the words in the title (plus one additional word at the end), Good News, Bad News tells a very funny story about a picnic plagued by problems - a rainstorm, pests, and even lightning that sizzles the two friends to cinders in animated-cartoon style ("sensitive readers beware," warns Kirkus Reviews). Until this final mishap, Rabbit sees the bright side of or a solution to every challenge, but it's Mouse who has a positive attitude, at last, in the end.

The title contains the only four words you will find in the this book. The illustrations tell the rest of the story. My children (3 and 6) really responded to it, and like to read it again and again.
A hilarious picture book that even older kids (and adults!) will enjoy.
