(The fourth book in the Lady Julia Grey series)

A solid entry in the series. Raybourn does a wonderful job of evoking Victorian era northern India. The cast of characters are fascinating as usual and Julia and Brisbane continue to be utter charmers even after their wedding. While I felt one of the twists at the end of the novel wasn't necessary, I generally enjoyed the novel.

Another enjoyable read in the Lady Julia Grey series.

This fourth book in the Lady Julia Grey series is just as sharp as the first three. Lady Julia is now married to private enquiry agent Nicholas Brisbane, and after a lengthy honeymoon they find themselves traveling with two of Julia's siblings, Portia and Plum, to solve a mystery on a plantation there. Exotic setting, Julia & Brisbane's typical bickering, and the series' trademark wit make this latest volume in the series just as delightful as the previous three.

This series just keeps getting better. The characters, even the minor ones, are written so that we feel that we know them. The atmosphere of upper crust Britain in the Victorian era is exciting. Lady Julia Gray and her husband Nick Brisbane keep growing more interesting as we learn more about them. This chapter in the series is set in India. The setting is wonderful, with exquisite detail given. That includes peacocks, Indian servants, and eccentric neighbors. In addition, this is a wonderful mystery. The twists and turns in the sleuthing make it difficult to solve the murder.
