He was a farmer, a businessman gone bankrupt, an unknown politician from Missouri who suddenly found himself president. Of all the men who had held the highest office, Harry Truman was the least prepared. But he would prove to be a surprise. The first night of "Truman" recounts his early struggles and failures as a young adult, and his undying determination to have an accomplishment to call his own. Truman's success as an army captain during World War I gave him the confidence to marry his lifelong sweetheart, Bess, and begin his path into the world of politics. When he landed the vice presidency with FDR in 1944, he had no idea that his world was about to change forever.

It was 257 minutes long. It has 4 parts on two disks. I liked this Biography Documentary DVD. It was comprehensive and informative. Harry S. Truman 33rd U.S. President Harry S. Truman was the 33rd president of the United States from 1945 to 1953, succeeding upon the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt after serving as vice president. He implemented the Marshall Plan to rebuild the economy of Western Europe, and established the Truman Doctrine and NATO. Born: May 8, 1884, Lamar, Missouri, United States Died: December 26, 1972, Kansas City, Missouri, United States Presidential term: April 12, 1945 – January 20, 1953 Party: Democratic Party Battles/wars: World War I: St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne; Defensive Sector Vice president: Alben W. Barkley (1949–1953)

I questioned an old retired homosexual at Lake Forest Park the other day, about Truman's connections. I confused Arkansas with Missouri: Arkansas has a mob-town, at least one: Hot Springs, but then that would apply to Clinton, not to Truman. I laughed in his face, ' Imagine me, mixing up Truman for Clinton!' He didn't flinch, just went on with what he was saying. Truman was a farmer, before he became a milliner. I could tell he respected the farming part of Truman's the way, if you want to learn more about the hold the Mob has over us (still) i recommend a good read: CONTRACT ON AMERICA, by David Scheim.
