Outstanding! I give author Price "A" for originality, plot, characters, and quality of writing. This book is a perfect mix of action and dialogue. The characters are introspective without becoming boring. The "heroes" have flaws, the "villains" believe they are the "good guys"...and the plot twists leave the reader guessing until the end. I tend to prefer hard science fiction over fantasy, but Price blends the two seamlessly. Although this is the first book in a new series, it does have a comfortable ending (which is a big plus in my estimation; I hate cliffhangers!) If I have any criticism, it's the relative lack of world building. While Price tells us what we need to know, it's just the foundation. If he expands upon the setting in the next book(s) as skillfully as he develops the plot and characters in this one, this series is sure to make my "favorites" list.
