I love Stuart Woods' novels but without a question, the Stone Barrington series is the best - I am playing catch-up with the latest novels now. I still love the characters and how they have progressed over the years. The Best!!!

Many years ago I read Wood's "White Cargo", enjoyed it greatly and promptly went out to find other books he had written. Although some of them were not bad, none of them actually approached the quality of the original. As for "Family Jewels", the least said the better. It's a real pot boiler with lots of sex (Stone Barrington, who chronologically should be well over the hill by now, has 007 beat by a country mile) a far too easy attitude towards money and great wealth, together with a run of the mill plot which is actually almost extraneous to the action. The whole thing is hopelessly blasé and trades heavily on the author's reputation - enough for me to decide not to bother with any of his other books.

This is the first time I've read Stuart Woods and I won't be reading more any time soon. I couldn't make a connection with any of the characters. You could read this book in one sitting the writing was so simple. I finished the book only to find out who did it. I guess I could have skipped to the end but I persevered. There are so many books available that are much better written by other authors.

All of his other characters
find their way into this one,
making for an interesting
bend, fast fun read.

Woods is getting a little bit better, but still not as good as his older books.
