When Seattle yoga teacher Kate Davidson agrees to teach doga (yoga for dogs) at a fundraiser for a local animal shelter, she believes the only damage will be to her reputation. But a few downward-facing dogs are the least of Kate's problems when an animal rights protest at the event leads to a suspicious fire and a drowning.

The police arrest Dharma, a woman claiming to be Kate's estranged mother, and charge her with murder. To prove Dharma's innocence, Kate, her boyfriend Michael, and her German shepherd sidekick Bella dive deeply into the worlds of animal activism and organizational politics. As they investigate the dangerous obsessions that drive these groups, Kate and her sleuthing team discover that when it comes to murder, there's no place like hOMe.

This is a delightful series, especially for anyone who loves dogs and anyone who loves yoga. And it takes place in Seattle too! I always recommend reading a series in order, and this book is especially enjoyable.

Love this mystery loaded with yoga & Seattle references!

As we've made Washington state our home, I have really wanted to like this cozy mystery series, so have kept reading, in spite of really not liking the main character and finding the writing in the first volume to be lacking. Although the writing was better in the second book, I still had trouble liking the main character enough to connect with her. The writing in this, the 3rd book, was far better than the first 2, plus the story line explains the inner conflicts of the main character more fully. I still can't go as far as saying that I like her; however, at least I'm understanding her more, and the actual mysteries are getting better with each book.

*** If you enjoy yoga and cozy mysteries, a far better book is "Downward Facing Death", the first a brand new series by Michelle Kelly, an author and writing teacher from the UK! ***
