Dark Challenge was one of the more creative early Carpathian novels. For the first time, readers get introduced to ancient Carpathian females who have powers to rival the males (though in a different way.) Desari was and is one of the most interesting heroines Christine Feehan ever introduced us to. It was kind of amusing watching Julian have to reconcile the fact that his lifemate could rival him in power, when he was used to having to protect Carpathian females. And she didn't want to be protected. She already had an overprotective older brother; she didn't need an overprotective lover too. It made for a creative dynamic for the series that hadn't been there before. So I recommend this one.
I wish this book had been 1000 pages long, as I really enjoy reading about the Dark Troubadors, as the type of music they play sounds like the type I'd enjoy. If they were for real, I'd hire them, but I'm sure ...being human, I'd have to allow one of them to feed from me...IF I dared. And, I'd hope it wasn't Darius or Julian...
Desari --Gregori's younger sister-- is one of my favorite Carpathian- born female characters to read about. If she had been real, I wouldn't mind meeting her.
Awesome this means there can be a big family reunion in the future!
And the Vampires's poison is finally gone for good.
very intense, Full of passion, danger and superbateral thrills.
Action packed and sexy.
What a fantastic addition to the Dark series! Not only do we get to see Julian, Aidan's twin, find a lifemate, but find five other Carpathians thought lost centuries ago. To hear news of your siblings after hundreds of years...
