I wasn't sure what my child would think of the poetic language in this, but it was very well received. I like the writing, but it used big words. My son loves Humpty Dumpty and so liked this story too.
Humpty, that bad egg, has a little sister who is sweet and kind and a little bit shy. But she loves to play the flute. The Dumptys are an acrobatic act in the circus and travel around in an egg carton camper, that is screaming out to be done as a diorama, and Humpty is the finale in the act. However he is a brat and when he goes too far and falls off the wall, cracks open, and starts to yolk out, only his little sister can hear him and come to the rescue. It is her calm presence that will save the day. This charming book is a welcome addition to the nursery rhyme and has enchanting illustrations from an author who knows his audience.
