Wow a frightening thriller!

An interesting premise but a little disappointing in execution. Will and his new girlfriend show up at a dinner party thrown by his ex, Eden, and her new spouse. Will and Eden lost a child and their grief over this event blew up their marriage. Eden now seems to have gotten over it, although Will does not. During the party, Will is irritable and remote and keeps warning that something about the party isn't right. These warnings seem way exaggerated, based on people's behavior at the party, although this is after all a movie and we are all expecting something dire to happen. A cool reveal right at the end.

I could fully comprehend what the director was aiming for- I just thought that they failed in what they were trying to achieve. The last half of the film loses pretty much any tension it was trying to achieve because of the amateurish direction and acting. Too bad- there was potential there for an interesting movie in more capable hands.

Starting out with small talk and uneasy laughter as out of touch acquaintances half-heartedly catch up on each other’s lives, director Karyn Kusama slowly sharpens the psychological edges of her thriller with an already unbalanced Will noticing—and quite possibly misinterpreting—worrisome little details like a barred window or the occasional odd mannerism. But when the shocks start arriving you realize she has been setting you up for a contemporary horror story that plays on southern California trendiness (remember EST and Transcendental Meditation?) yet ends with a vision more suitable to Dante. As Will, Logan Marshall-Green wears his pain prominently on his sleeve as he stares and stumbles his way through the evening taking us along with him—a compelling blend of anger and paranoia to match Emayatzy Corinealdi's (Kira) helpless befuddlement. Tammy Blanchard and Michiel Huisman on the other hand play Eden and David like a pair of Stepford yuppie acolytes, their bland smiles chillingly shallow as they spout their metaphysical word salad. Taken as a postmodern nightmare or the blackest of satires (or both) this is one psycho-shocker that hooks you solidly and never lets go.

This wasn't very good- it started with a semi-interesting premise but things soon devolved- fell flat and I found myself bored by the end.

This is a very captivating film. The salient feature is that it is psychological. I see from the ratings that not many can handle that. Perhaps they should stick to Disney cartoons and leave the intellectually demanding films to cinephiles. The director, Karyn Kusama, is an important
player to watch. And the really neat thing is that there is a bue-ray disc in the case too.

Pure garbage. Don't even waste your time. I only watched it because I was at work getting paid by the hour. GARBAGE!

Fun dinner party horror, but the "twist" at the end was extremely silly.

Didn't see that coming.

for me this is a waste of time and any money put into making it,,,,not even close to the best of anything in my opinion...your better of drawing a picture of a monster and watching that then this movie....
