Marjorie Augusta Shepard was the daughter of Dr. James E. Shepard, founder of North Carolina Central University. She attended the National Religious Training School and Chautauqua in 1910. She was a 1919 graduate of Fisk University.  In 1922 she taught History and Social Sciences at the National Training School and in 1926 Marjorie Shepard became the university’s first librarian. She was also a postmistress of the university’s post office.  Marjorie Shepard was a member of Alpha Zeta Omega, Daughters of Dorcas Club, and the L. B. Farrington District at White Rock Baptist Church.
