In 1953 the annual homecoming decoration rivalry between coeds in Johnson and Bostwick dormitories was projected to be renewed due, in part, to Oscar. Page 8 of this issue of the Old Gold and Black, describes Oscar as a "huge deacon dummy." The dummy, who originated out of Johnson Hall, was stolen and hidden in the attic of Bostwick. While Johnson was able to sneak into Bostwick and get Oscar back, these tensions were predicted to create a greater rivalry in homecoming decoration activities.
