Russell Means was arrested in Los Angeles following the revocation of his bond. Means said his bond was revoked as retaliation for remarks he had made in Oklahoma and South Dakota. During his time in California, he met with actor Marlon Brando, who Means said would help with legal costs. Means appeared at a press conference just prior to his arrest, where he announced that Wounded Knee could not be resolved peacefully if he was arrested.
