Rodney Winfield was a professor of art at Maryville College (Maryville University since 1991) for over 20 years. Mr. Winfield created works in many media: painting, sculpture, stained glass, jewelry, and tapestries. He received commissions from all over the United States, including an invitation to produce the Space Window in the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.One of his paintings, "For Those Who Love Books," hangs in the campus library. The painting includes a collection of mythical characters.Many of Winfield's creations integrated myth, spirituality, and fantasy. He is quoted as saying, "Art for me is metaphorical. In it coexists and sometimes merge conscious craft and unconscious visionary painting."
