Upon the death of Dr. James E. Shepard, founder and president of the college, the Board of Trustees appointed an interim committee (1947) consisting of Miss Ruth Rush, dean of women and (not pictured) Dr. Albert T. Turner, dean of the School of Law, and Dr. Albert E. Manley, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences to conduct the administrative duties of the college. The Ruth G. Rush Residence Hall is named in honor of Miss Rush for her contributions and years of service to the university.
