Rate this:
This 15th-century manuscript shows the Eighth Crusade, led by King Louis IX. The Crusaders first landed at Tunis and were immediately struck with illness due to the heat and lack of safe drinking water. Louis himself succumbed to illness shortly after his arrival, and his brother Charles I of Anjou had to take leadership of the Crusade after his death.
