This map shows the main routes and incursions of the barbarian tribes in the first through fifth centuries. The Huns' various routes are shown in green. It is thought that the Huns originally came from the Eurasian steppe in northeastern Siberia. Although they were eventually defeated by the Roman forces, the Huns did considerable damage to the weakening Empire and certainly contributed to its eventual collapse in 476 A.D.
