First published in 1894, The Wood Beyond the World tells the story of Golden Walter, a man who finds out that his wife has had an affair with another man. Wanting to avoid a feud with her family, he sets off on a long sea voyage. Nonetheless, he hears news that his wife's family has killed his father and races back home to protect the rest of his kin. As luck would have it, a large, magical storm steers his ship off course, and Walter lands in a mystical world full of witches, castles and giants where he must fight his way back home.
