Book - 1920
Rate this:
A painting of Joseph Smith's first wife, Emma Hale Smith. Emma and Joseph were married in 1827. She gave birth to nine children, but only two survived until adulthood. Emma, even upon her deathbed, denied that Joseph had plural wives or that he even preached the practice of polygamy. After the death of Joseph, Emma stayed in Nauvoo and remarried a non-Mormon and withdrew from the religion for many years, only later returning to a form of Mormonism now called the Community of Christ. Emma died in 1879.
