Antonia Ford Willard was a Confederate spy from Fairfax Court House, Virginia. When her hometown was occupied by Union forces, she socialized with Union soldiers and gathered important information on troop strength and formations. She passed intelligence to Brigadier General J.E.B. Stuart through her brother, who was serving under him. Stuart acknowledged her service by naming her an honorary Aide-de-Camp in 1861. Later betrayed by Union counter-spy Frankie Abel, she was imprisoned in Washington, D.C. Released, she was later arrested again by Union Major Joseph Willard, whom she eventually married.
