Rate this:
In 1874, Alexander Calder finished sculpting the statue of William Penn that would be placed on top of Philadelphia City Hall. The statue was meant to be the tallest point in the city and was until the construction of One Liberty Place in the mid-1980s. Before the statue got placed atop City Hall, Alexander Milne Calder, the grandson of the artist, was able to see the artwork up close. Here, Calder sits with the statue's head, giving a unique perspective on the statue's size.
