The Marriage of Queen Victoria

Book - 1840?
Rate this:
Although Victoria was queen, being unwed restricted her to remain living with her mother in Buckingham Palace, a social convention that did not please the Queen. Victoria and Albert knew one another for some time before their marriage, but after his visit to Windsor Castle in October 1839, they openly exchanged mutual affections for one another. The Queen proposed to him five days after his arrival and they were married four months later. This portrait depicts the wedding of Albert and Victoria on February 10, 1840.
