Book - 1794?
Rate this:
This painting of General Gates was completed after his service in the American Revolution. Gates was instrumental in successfully commanding the Continental forces at the Battles of Saratoga, and combined with his intelligence officers' interception of many of British General John Burgoyne's correspondences, Gates was able to force a surrender of Burgoyne and his nearly 6,000 troops after two battles.
