Rate this:
This portrait shows King Charles I, who ruled England, Scotland and Ireland from March 27, 1625 until his execution in 1649. He believed in the absolute and divine right of Kings, and his lack of consulting with Parliament and other governing bodies led to his arrest for treason after being declared a tyrant and absolute monarch in 1649.
