This address was given at the reinterment of the remains of General Mercer, a well-known general of the American Revolution. Mercer, a Scottish immigrant and well-experienced general, was mortally wounded at the Battle of Princeton on January 3, 1777. Included is a recounting of the battle and of Mercer's death.
