When fellow satirist Charles Churchill poked a proverbial stick at Hogarth, who was rather notoriously thin-skinned, he retaliated with this cartoon depicting Churchill as a drunken dancing bear. Hogarth's pug urinates on Churchill's satirical poem "An Epistle to William Hogarth," which among other things made fun of Hogarth's treatise "The Analysis of Beauty."
