Capital: A Critique of Political Economy is Marx's most famous work. Capitalism was a relatively new phenomenon to Marx's time. He argues that the system forces the separation of economics, law and ethics. Economic value is replaced by commodity fetishism, and the bourgeois and the working class are pitted against each other. This first volume was originally published in 1867. The second and third volumes were not released until after Marx's death, when Engels found and edited them.
