Emanuel Swedenborg's Journal of Dreams and Spiritual Experiences
In the Year Seventeen Hundred and Forty-FourBook - 1918
Emanuel Swedenborg was an 18th-century Swedish scientist, philosopher and theologian. In 1744, he began a journey in which he intended to gather source material for a planned 17-volume study of the animal kingdom. On the first leg of his travels, Swedenborg began to have strange dreams, which he recounted in a dream journal that is translated in this volume. After this experience, he abandoned his scientific project and began concentrating on a life of spiritual study and writing. Swedenborg believed that he was visited by angels and spirits in his dreams, who provided him with spiritual insights and premonitions.
