Henry VIII on Horseback

Henry VIII on Horseback

Book - 1561?
Rate this:
A hand-colored woodcut of Henry VIII of England on horseback. Completed around 1561, just after the King's death, he is shown jousting, which was one of his favorite past-times. Interestingly enough, it was a jousting match injury that left a young Henry with a wound that would ulcerate and fester in his later years, causing a great deal of pain and a foul temper.
