During an absolutely terrible time in our history, one young German boy copes with the reality of Nazism. Fully indoctrinated into the Nazi way of thinking - including his imaginary friend, Hitler - Jo Jo meets a Jewish girl who has been hidden in the attic by his mother. Hitler and Nazism say that Jews are monsters. JoJo proceeds to interview her, so he can write a book for Hitler describing the monster Jews' culture and habits.

JoJo has many relationships; the girl, his mother the resistance worker; his father - missing or killed in France; his imaginary Hitler; a German leader and trainer of boys and girls for the Brown Shirts and Gestapo.

Conversations with the girl and his mother open JoJo's eyes to the hard reality of WWII. During a difficult time, JoJo has developed ways to cope with the reality of the time. A very good movie.

Very watchable. Other than that, I really don't know what to say about it. It does have 2 good young actors--Jo Jo and Yorki.

Adorable and heart warming movie about Nazis and the evils of war. Yes, this satire managed to pull that off. The acting, especially of Jojo's character is great. Scenes are well shot. Everything about this movie, including the messages are wonderful. War and bigotry suck. Being a kid and loving people is awesome.

With all the bad things in recent months, I put off watching this for some time. Glad I recently saw it. Very imaginative with surprising storyline and very good acting--those three kids are amazing! With intolerance still alive and well across the globe, this film is a reminder of what has been and what could happen again , but it does so in an entertaining and provocative way. Worth seeing for sure.

We will never get rid of the Nazis, and we should never forget what they had done to the world. I have watched too many documentaries on the Nazis. They did have the best looking uniforms in WWII. I watched the entire movie , but was not impressed. Did you hear what the little kid said when he knocked Hitler out of the window?

Solid comedy poking fun at the nazis. A decent coming of age story as well.

Can't do better than Nursebob's Feb 03, 2020 comment. (Also referenced Nursebob in my comment on Taika Waititi's 2010 film "Boy".) A bit weary at the beginning but it is all laughs after the first 20 minutes. The two boy actors as Jojo and Yorki are super and like other kids, say and do the darndest things.

Note: Not surprised that this film won the 2020 Oscar for Adapted Screenplay.

Demagoguery, Nazi propaganda, and life in war time Germany are portrayed through the naive eyes of an imaginative, impressionable 10 year old boy. Hard to believe that this movie works, but it strikes the right balance by using caricature and absurdity to convey the evils of fascism, prejudice, and hate. It receives our permission to use outlandish humour by viewing the world through the eyes of a child. Although the movie is identified as a comedy, its satiric tone changes near the end and the story becomes quite heartrending as harsh reality intrudes in the boy’s imaginary world.

Jojo Rabbit is a heartwarming yet dark and twisted ,satire or whatever you may want to call it type of movie. This movie makes you laugh at moments but isn’t afraid to make the viewers get emotional or think deeply over the film. It is a movie of substance. What makes people love this movie so much is the story along with its excecution and overall meaning. This movie delivers us a lot of thought provoking quotes and moments. Brilliant cinematography. What amazes the viewers the most is the standout performances of Roman griffin and Taika Waititi. Roman griffin being the centre of the act exceeds all expectations. He fills in the role perfectly. The Same goes for all the co-actors.We see a beautiful tale between a mother and son and a beautiful romance developing between a friend and foe. This movie is one with a deep meaning for the world and it delivers right on the forefront of happenings around the world. A must watch. One of the best movies of 2019.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this film. It was so funny, so poignant and so unlike anything else I've ever seen. Highly recommend!

Elsa Korr: I don't know anything about being a woman. Is that what it is? You do things like drinkwine?
Rosie: Sure. You drink. Champagne if you're happy. Champagne, if you're sad. You drive a car. Gamble if you want. Own diamonds. Learn how to fire a gun. You travel to Morocco. Take up lovers. Make them suffer. You look a tiger in the eye. And trust without fear. That's what it is to be a woman.

You're not a Nazi, Jojo. You're a ten-year-old kid who likes dressing up in a funny uniform and wants to be part of a club.

Rosie: Love is the strongest thing in the world.

Jojo Betzler: I think you'll find that metal is the strongest thing in the world, followed closely by dynamite, and then muscles.

Jojo Betzler: Nothing makes sense anymore.

Yorki: Yeah, I know, definitely not a good time to be a Nazi.

38 quotes in IMDb already. However, equally memorable are those quotes in many scenes as comic exclamations, e.g. the kicks exhibited by Jojo and Rosie. Other examples are when Jojo and Yorki reunited during the liberation battle:

-Yorki! Thank God. I thought you were dead.
No. It seems like I can never die. I'm gonna go home and see my mother. I need a cuddle.

Or the scene after this simple quote between Jojo and Elsa:

What do we do now?
