This final instalment of the revised adaption of the Planet of the Apes series that was based upon the 1963 novel written by French author, Pierre Boulle. I had always been impressed with the original five movies, starting with the 1968 Planet of the Apes, and ending with the 1973 Battle for the Planet of the Apes, and find that they still stand the test of time fairly well even with today's special effects. However the impressive adaption of the story and the GCI effects, in my mind, makes this new series far superior; starting with the 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes; followed by the 2014 Dawn of the Planet of the Apes; concluding with the 2017 War for the Planet of the Apes. I thought that the story was credible and had some interesting twists. This series did pay homage to the original, by using certain phrases and images, in which I thought was very creative and enhanced the more current adaptions. Although the 2001 revision of the Planet of the Apes, although impressive with some aspects, however for me, just did not live up to the original, and has far surpassed by the most recent adaptions. The special features on this film did have an interview with Andy Serkis (whom did Gollum in the Hobbit; Lord of the Rings films; and the 2005 King Kong). The film credits show that this was filmed in California, Alberta and Grouse Mountain. Looking further on IMDB, also credits Vancouver and Tofino. I had been told that parts were filmed inside the Canada Post building, downtown Vancouver and while watching the film, it looked like a Tofino beach scene.
