3/5 Stars This world is divided into 13 factions. Each of a different social and economic status. With Faction 13 destroyed, there are only 12 factions left. Each year 2 people are randomly selected to compete in the “Hunger Games” – an everyone for themselves fight to the death for the wealthier factions to watch and enjoy. When Katniss’ young sister Primrose is selected to participate Katniss volunteers to take her place. Katniss is forced to learn how to survive on her own, form alliances, and find food, water, and shelter. She must learn to get along with her factions’ other participant, Peeta Mellark, a poor, shy, baker. They must train together to prepare for the games. With less prior training, money, and power the lower districts never win the games. With winning set in her heart Katniss does everything she can to survive and get back home to her family and friends. I like this movie, but I feel like the acting could have been much better. I think that it was the one major flaw of the movie. I believe that the role of Peeta was perfectly cast but the roles of Katniss and her best friend Gale were not. The main idea from the book is present in the movie however some smaller events were changed very much. I think that the main and secondary characters were all very well developed with great depth and development through the movie.
