Fantasy creature live in the modern world as a result of some conflict with something called the Adversary. Now they live together, outcasts from their own worlds and lands and do their best to get by. There's a government of sorts, there are characters taking the time to reform, and there are those who still up to their old tricks and expect things to work out. The art reads like an older mystery comic, which is fitting since this volume deals with the murder of one of these characters, but the whole thing really hinges on the world more than the mystery. You're given some very small clues but the big parlour scene reveal at the end spells it all out for you. I'm curious more about the world. If you're into fairy tale retellings or modern fantasy I'd give this a go.
